Why Watching Point?
-
We care for what's already here. That means conserving and restoring the town's artistic landmarks so they last for the next generation. We also support new public art that fits Skowhegan and its landscape. And we tell people about it, so Skowhegan becomes known as a place worth visiting for its art and its natural beauty.
-
Stewardship. Public art is a shared inheritance, and we take care of it.
Community. Art should bring people together and belong to everyone.
Place. Our art and our landscape go together.
Pride in Skowhegan. We want people to see this town as a cultural destination.

Watching Point is a new nonprofit in Skowhegan, Maine. We formed in 2026 because our town's public art and artistic landmarks deserve steady care and people who will speak up for them. We're a small, volunteer-led board working to protect the art we have, add new work, and share Skowhegan's creative side with residents and visitors.
